As a young man, my dreams carried me north from Delafield, Wisconsin away from the Kettle Moraine to college at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for resource management and business. Then, I took my some time to play in the snow of northern Michigan.

That was over 35 years ago. I fell in love. The skiing, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and boating was wonderful. I met my wife, Janice at Big Powderhorn Mountain while skiing. After we were married, we had fun moving around the Powderhorn Village building and remodeling chalets and starting our little real estate company. I also spent some time as an insurance salesman traveling all over the tri-state area. This really helped me learn about people, their needs, and their communities. About 25 years ago I got out of the insurance business, became licensed in real estate in Michigan and Wisconsin, became a State Licensed Appraiser, and joined my wife in the office. We also decided to have a child and raise her here. Throughout the years, I have learned a lot about the woods, wildlife and myself through traditional camp life that I was fortunate enough to experience. I pass on the traditions of deer camp that I learned on to my daughter and teach her about waterfowl hunting from my childhood back in the Horicon. I have taken up a new hobby with Janice the past few years. We have a boat at Saxon Harbor and enjoy being a part of the boating club. I like to get out on Lake Superior and fish in the tournaments for record breaking lake trout or just for a nice sunset cruise. The north land is now my home.  The snow is still great, the woods are ever changing, and the boating on Lake Superior is awesomely challenging.

My life experiences have helped me become a great Realtor. My resource management background from college helps me identify valuable vacant land parcels. My hunting experiences have made me comfortable in the woods. I have become a good networker through my work with diverse people while selling insurance. I enjoy finding commercial properties for other businesses locating in the area. I love making new contacts and helping them follow their dreams north and being able to call this area home as I do. It is fun to sell recreational properties at ski resorts, golf courses, inland lakes, and Lake Superior to people who enjoy the area for their own reasons. I listen to your needs as a seller or buyer. I work with your time frames and find what you need.

I have been an active member in our community for many years. I am a member of the Ironwood Economic Development Commission, Chairman of the Ironwood Planning Commission (board member for over 10 years), member of Ironwood City Parks and Recreation Committee, member of the Lake Superior Watershed Initiative, Rotarian, and church council member. I enjoy writing poetry and have been published in UP Writer of the Year, Amy Van Ooyen’s book, A U.P. DEADEND ROAD NEVER ENDS. The poem “Did You Ever” expresses my feelings while acclimating to the beautiful Superior South Shore region. Give a call or drop an email so I can start your adventure so that you too, can be LIVING THE DREAM!

When I was a young child, people saw me in the office with my parents and would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I almost always replied, “a real estater.” Real estate has been a part of my life for longer than I can remember. I was five days old for my first day “on the job.” Mom took me on a fire appraisal. I guess I was hooked. I had an office and went to the business meetings throughout grade school and high school. I was very excited to get my Michigan real estate license as soon as I turned 18. Now I have been a licensed Realtor in Michigan since 2003 and Wisconsin since 2005. I love working with both of my parents and our agents in our family business in Upper Michigan. Listing and selling residential, recreational, commercial, and vacant land parcels is an excellent career. I also manage about 180 rental units for landlords from all across the country.

I was born and raised in the Upper Midwest. Since Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois are relatively close; I was able to travel around, visit relatives and experience a lot of what our areas have to offer. I lived in Duluth, Minnesota for two years and attended University of Minnesota-Duluth to complete my degree in finance. I also learned American Sign Language and have been interpreting for local government agencies and hospitals since I graduated and moved back to the area in 2006.

My favorite part of living in Ironwood is living in a small town that has natural beauty and four different and distinct seasons. I take advantage of each season. Lake Superior is an amazing asset that I can’t live without. We live near three harbors that are hot spots for summer fun. Fishing, boating, kayaking, waterfalls, hiking, biking, waterskiing, tubing, camping, sailing, swimming, and rollerblading are a few of the things I enjoy during the summer months. There are many inland lakes that are fun to play on, too. The Upper Peninsula is a different place as soon as the leaves start changing for fall colors. Hunting is a big part of our culture up here. I am a deer and waterfowl hunter. September rolls around and I am excited for the flights of ducks and geese that pass through. The nip in the air and frozen feet in my waders is worth seeing a sunrise with ducks flying into our decoys. November is the opening of rifle deer season. Posting and still hunting are great ways to clear my mind and think about the things that really matter in life. Winter is a great time to be a Yooper. The wind comes in from the Lake and pretty soon we are skiing, sledding, tubing, snowshoeing, and playing in 300 plus inches of snow. My parents taught me to ski went I was 21 months old. Since then, I worked at both Blackjack Ski Resort and Indianhead Ski Resort as a PSIA ski instructor, ski league director and a NASTAR pacesetter. I helped coordinate Sledjam, a freestyle snowmobile competition as part of Sledfest 2008 and also helped with the oval ice racing. Just like every other person in the North, I am very excited for the snow to go and spring to come. Rushing waters make for great times to take pictures of the waterfalls and head out kayaking and canoeing. No matter what season it is, there are always amazing things to take pictures of. I like to stay active in my community by sitting on the Ironwood Chamber of Commerce board, working on community events like the Jack Frost Parade and area publications like The Adventure Guide.

I love where I live, and I love what I do. Enthusiasm is more than half of real estate sales. I would be more than happy to have the opportunity to work with you.
